Vertical 3 is online: free-surface analysis of a ship hull. 🚢
Volume-of-fluid simulations track the interface between water and air, which makes them among the most demanding analyses in marine design — and among the slowest. Predicting how a hull generates waves and resistance traditionally means long multiphase runs for every variant considered.
Our surrogate returns the phase field — the water–air interface itself — along with pressure and wall shear stress over the hull, and integrates them into the drag resistance. In other words, the wave pattern and the number you size the propulsion around, both in real time.
The vertical was developed with Fincantieri, and trained on a database of 1,000 analyses covering three speeds each. The hull design itself stays confidential — but the method transfers to any hull form.
Vertical 3 is available now on the Spaider-AI platform.
